Water on the Reef
A lot can change in a week and this morning's post couldn't be more contrasted with the post I made last Tuesday. From dead flat and colourful, today's post is grey with a raw 4m east swell rousing the ocean. We're at the tail end of some seriously wild weather and although the wind is light and offshore this morning, it's going to take some time for the energy to settle.
Hard to find a sheltered spot in an east swell. Even Fairy Bower seemed to have too much water moving across the reef to get into position. I saw one wave ridden in the time I was scoping it and the surfer rode it straight back into Shelly Beach. Maybe the novelty harbour waves are worth a gander... maybe mañana.
Entries are open for the Northern Beaches Council's Underwater Photography Competition. In it's 5th year, the competition highlights the special places that sustain an incredible biodiversity and other worldly beauty. Click through for the details.
