This morning I had the chance to try out Nikon's 300mm f/4 lens.  It's a compact little lens that's light (just 755 grams) and sharp.  And it fits snuggly inside my existing waterhousing and port set-up. Bonus! 300mm is a lot of lens to be shooting with at sea-level and it was super challenging to get positioned in the right spot, especially in a dynamic environment like a beach break.

But, with 300mm you can really get intimate with details or step back and bring the background into frame.  This morning probably wasn't ideal light and surf conditions for a 300mm lens but it's opened up a new perspective which inspires opportunities and ideas for fresh angles.
