Good day for flying kites. The Southerly wind has been blowing all night and it's blown up a decent chunky swell. The wind is forecast to drop and it's showing signs of trailing off already. With a building swell and easing winds the afternoon is looking the goods for a chunky late session. The Hurley Australian Open of Surfing is locked and loaded ready to kick off on the weekend. The hottest surfers from around the world are starting to filter into town to compete in the Pro Junior and Open events. Local North Steyne wildcard recipient, veteran pro Beau Mitchell, will be keeping a personal journal to give us a unique insight into the mind of a competitor. Stay tuned.
